Account of a visit by George Catlin : holograph, [1844?].

Hutton's manuscript account of the visit to her home in 1844 by George Catlin and his party of fourteen Ioway Indians. A clipping from the Birmingham Advertiser describing the visit is affixed to the manuscript. Much of the account is a description of Catlin's life and career. Accompanied by two apparently unrelated letters written in 1845, one from Edward Binns, M.D. (4 p.) in which he praises the biography of Catherine's father, William Hutton, and another by Mr. Harris (1 p.) with an appended note by Mr. Hawkes. Harris is presenting Hutton with an otherwise unidentified plate.
